Hello! I’m Tom, and I write music for short films, long films, adverts, idents and everything else in between.
I’ve had the pleasure of composing rock songs for ‘This is Spinal Tap’ (check out the Blu-ray), crafting evocative scores for meaningful projects, like the national campaign for Women’s Aid, ‘Deserve to be Heard’, and creating evolving soundscapes for the year-long exhibition, ‘SHE_SEES’ at Portsmouth Historic Dock in 2025.
In addition to film composition, I also produce films. I’m currently working on the feature length documentary ‘Black Dog Way’ as Producer as Music Editor, set for release in 2025.
My experience in this dual role has given me a valuable insight into the filmmaking process, allowing me to collaborate more closely with directors and understand their vision. Music for film and moving image is an interesting beast. Done well, it can enhance the emotional depth of what’s happening on screen, adding subtext and revealing elements that may be lurking beneath the surface. When it falls short, it can come across as contrived, cheesy or just downright awkward. Our goal is to achieve the former!
Whether it’s a poignant score for a documentary, an energetic advertisement, or an evocative theme for a campaign, I strive to create music and sound that resonates with audiences.
Film
In addition to composing music for film, I also produce independent films.
In my role as a film producer, I take creative ideas and transform them into fully realised projects. This involves making critical decisions at every stage of production, from managing funding bids to post-production processes. I oversee all aspects of marketing and distribution, ensuring that each project reaches its intended audience. If there’s a compelling and engaging story, I want to help put it in front of as many eyes as possible!
