'This is spinal tap'

Studiocanal - blu ray

I had the incredible opportunity to contribute to the iconic film ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ by writing the menu music for its Blu-ray release. I co-wrote the song with songwriter Alby Samuels and I’m pleased to say that the crazy guitar solo (which was too much fun to record) plays throughout the ‘Up to 11 Edition’.

In hindsight, we should have written the song in D minor (‘the saddest of all keys’)… If you know, you know 😉

Women's Aid

'Deserve to be Heard' campaign

Hearing stories from survivors of domestic abuse is profoundly emotional, and it was crucial for the music to serve its intended purpose. I aimed to avoid underscoring the trauma too heavily; this campaign was designed to raise awareness and needed to convey a sense of openness and hope.

To achieve this, I adopted a hybrid score approach, blending both acoustic and electronic elements. I composed a score that evolves alongside the survivors’ accounts, reflecting their journeys while maintaining a balance between sensitivity and strength.

SHE_SEES

Lloyd's Register & Lloyd's Register Foundation

SHE_SEES is an inspiring initiative creatively led by portrait photographer Emilie Sandy, in collaboration with Lloyd’s Register Foundation. This project celebrates the significant contributions of women to the maritime industry throughout history while also highlighting the stories of contemporary female professionals in the UK.

The music brief for this project provided an exciting opportunity for creativity. I chose to craft a unique soundscape that reflects the individuality of each woman. By assigning a distinct note or tone to each participant, the composition gradually develops, with these sounds slowly coalescing into a meditative harmony, ringing together. This musical soundscape mirrors the independent contributions of these women to the maritime industry while also emphasising their interconnectedness.

Renault Kadjar

Discovery Networks, publicis

The music for the Renault KADJAR idents was designed to be adaptable, as it accompanied six different films, showcasing the KADJAR in various stunning locations. Each piece needed to capture the essence of the car while enhancing the visual storytelling.

Working closely with Publicis and liaising directly with Renault, we engaged in open communication and collaboration to arrive at a solution that truly encapsulated the brand’s vision.
